The Dad

This video only begins to demonstrate the hilarity that was Cameron and Broom. We love you Broom!

He weighs in at around 26Lbs and he’s pretty tall. For an idea of how tall he is go find an 18mo old child, that’s about how tall he is. He’s been very healthy aside from a few ear aches and a small cold. He’s still very happy and is, as we’ve said before, just a blast to be around. His most notable milestone he’s achieved in the past couple of months is his ability to walk. Yep, at around 9 months he took his first few steps and he hasn’t looked back since. He’s walking all over the place and loves to see where his little feet will take him. He loves the parks, our front yard, Fry’s Electronics (getting him started early), and he loves the mall! He loves going to the mall and playing in the little children’s play area. It’s really quite a gas to see him run around.

Never the less, Cameron enjoyed the time he got to spend with his grandparents, and the few days that dad got off too, and of course the excellent gifts! Cameron also spent some time with his new BFF, Nico Cauwe and Liam. Cameron is becoming such a social butterfly its really neat to see how he interacts with other kids his age. But the most amazing thing about this month is the milestones Cameron’s been hitting. He seems to be hitting all the right milestones at just the right time. He has 4 teeth coming in, two bottom and two top coming in at frantic pace. His teeth are making him look like a little person rather than the cute cuddly little baby he used to be. (His mom still thinks he’s as cuddly as the day we brought him home though)

Next comes eating, he was eating baby food and breast milk on a daily basis but now, well, now he really only likes to eat finger foods, and only in his high chair and only when we’re eating too. His favorite foods right now are: Avocados, Bananas, Apples, Gram cracker teething biscuits and chopped Carrots. It’s really fun to watch him take the food and put it into his mouth and mull it around. He kind of gums it, and even though food falls out he still seems to  consume a large amount it. One of the most exciting milestones is sitting up from belly or back (Warning! This video kinda long, if you’re not a grandparent you might not want to click on the link). With this new learned skill he’s become more interactive and a lot more to handle. It use to be we could set him on his back and not worry but now when we lay him down he pops right up. Another thing he’s started is a crossed leg crawl hybrid thing… Shoot, let’s not lie, he’s crawling now!! Yes, that’s right, he started crawling only two days ago!! He went from sitting up from belly and back to leaning over his legs and crawling.

His crawling is still a hybrid form, his knees are moving under him but he hasn’t quite mastered the art. But if you lay a nice tantalizing object like Daddy’s iPhone, he’ll get up on all fours and hobble over in no time. Good thing his crawling takes quite a bit of motivation because if he were totally crawling all the time it would put us in another category of parenting… In addition to his crawling he also loves to try and walk.

His walking skills have really advanced too. He loves to be held under the arms and lead around the house. We got him a new toy where he can sit and walk around in any direction he feels like. He’s still getting used to it but sometimes he gets a wild hair and really pours the juice one. He can go from one end of the room to another is just a few strides. Speaking of new toys, we decided to resurrect an old toy that we tried once but didn’t like very much, the Bouncy Chair.

As you can see for yourself he loves this bouncy chair. It’s something, which if he’s in the mood for, can be very entertaining for both him and us. The jury is still out on whether or not this thing is 100% safe because it hangs from the door trims. And since I’ve put in a few door trims here and there I know that those things aren’t really securely fastened. Regardless, Cameron is at an age where every day something new seems to happen from his milestones to his teeth, and even more beautiful his enchanting personality.

Cameron at 8 Months Old

This month was especially exciting for us because it was Thanksgiving and we got to make a roadtrip to Dallas. This year Cameron’s Aunt and Uncle came in from the far off land of California. We were very excited to see them because we haven’t seen them in such a long time and it’l be the first time to meet Cameron. This year we stayed at Uncle T’s house which was small break with tradition. We usually stay a Grandma Mema’s house but this year she had construction going on so we decided to stay elsewhere. Besides it gave Cameron a chance to spend some time with his cousins which was a really fun!

During our time in Dallas Cameron also got to meet his second cousins and his great Uncle for the first time. It was really great to see all the cousins and second cousins again and of course Cameron was such a Ham, always wanting to be held and photographed! On Thanksgiving Day we all got together and had a really nice lunch/brunch or whatever you call it and ate to our hearts content. I thought Cameron looked especially cute with his Thanksgiving Day outfit on.

Now that we’re home, we’ve settled back into our routine and Cameron continues to grow by leaps and bounds. We hear people say all the time “They grow up so fast” and I think we’re really beginning to grasp that concept. It seems like it was just yesterday that he was able to sit up on his own. Next thing you know he’ll be walking..

Cameron’s Roll

This month was Halloween and this year we decided to go to a pumpkin patch and see if we could find us a pumpkin. We didn’t find any pumpkins that we wanted but we still had a good time. This year, being Cameron’s first Halloween, we decided to dress him up in something cute. This is probably the last time he’ll want to dress up cute, being a boy, I’m sure he’ll want to be scary and gory. So we thought a cute Teddy Bear outfit would be appropriate, and he was the cutest Teddy Bear ever. His outfit totally fits his personality. He’s such a cuddle bug and he’s so large what better fitting costume than a bear?

Because Cameron goes to sleep so early we decided to start our Halloween a little early, like 5:30pm!! We also invited his friend Liam to join us. Liam is part of our Mama’s meet up group that meets every week. Liam is a super cute vocal 9mo old who is just a blast to be around. In this pic you can see Cameron (5 ½ months old) standing next to Liam who is 9+ months old. We really don’t notice Cameron’s size until we see him next to kids almost twice his age.

So in summary, Cameron is as happy and sweet as ever and is such a joy to be around. He draws comments all the time when we take him out. He loves going shopping and to the grocery store. Also, his grandmother, Nini, comes over a lot and gets to spend time with him. They like to sit on the sidewalk and watch the cars and people go by.

Now we are looking forward to Thanksgiving and Christmas! That should be so much fun..

His two favorite things to do right now are scream at the top of his lungs and watch, watch, watch the pugs. He loves to watch the pugs play, sleep or just about anything they do he wants to watch. He really likes grabbing Bella and pulling a fist full of her fur out followed by a shout of pure glee!!

In the mornings he also likes to test his vocal chords and see how high a pitch he can get and when daddy gets home he loves to play in his exercise disk. He’s now in total teething phase and is going through about 5 bibs a day. As you’ll notice in most of these pictures he either has a bib on or has copious amounts of drool on his shirt. Oh and by the way he’s wearing 2yr old shirts now.. Yes that’s not a typo, two years old t-shirts. Who decides the sizes on the clothes.. I mean really!

Now that Cameron is 5months old we decided to start solid food feedings. Below are the first shots of Cameron eating solid foods. It looks like daddy doesn’t like the food more than Cameron! His eating regime is 1oz of organic, iron fortified, rice cereal mixed with breast milk once a day for a week. Then we go to 1oz a day twice a day. Soon he’ll be eating pizza and beer and that’s when to poo starts to stink, or so I’m told!!

In addition to his solid foods, we’ve gotten him on a nice wake schedule. He now gets up at 7:30am with mommy to start the day. Mommy likes to take him out for walks and it’s starting to get a little cooler here in Austin, TX so mom took a few shots of him with his winter/fall gear on (he looks too cute!). And we also caught him and daddy being cool with their ultra cool sun shades on! What a pair of studs… can you see the resemblance?

And last but not least we wanted to have some really nice images of Cameron that we could hang on our wall. The kind the professional take but without the cost! So we decided to take our own photographs and see what would happen. Well, to say the least we took some of the most beautiful pictures of Cameron we’ve ever seen. The one that really took us aback was this shot. It was one that daddy took at just the right time and was perfect. He looks so mature and so happy. That photo (cropped and photoshoped for imperfections, of course) now hangs on our wall. We still talk about how happy and how old he looks but it’s still a one in a million shot. He’s so photogenic!

So over the past 5 months Cameron has really begun to become a part of the family and the family has really begun to come together. Every day is a joy to be with him and he has this personality that draws you in. He also loves to snuggle on your shoulder and is nicknamed the “snuggle bug” by his mother, and we think he has a sweetest disposition (non-biased opinion, of course!). Better enjoy it now before he starts to want to take the car out for the weekend!!

L did quite a bit of research on the topic before we spent the money and it’s a little expensive at first but over time it really pays off. We chose the Fuzzi Bunz cloth diapers and would recommend them to any parent who is thinking about going cloth. They have the best overall fit, comfort and come in a variety of colors.

One word of caution, these diapers are a little more work than your typical disposables but once you get the hang of it, it’s really not any different than the normal routines you find yourself getting into once you have a child. The amount of times we empty the diaper gene went from once a week to almost once every three weeks and Cameron actually has less diaper rash with cloth diapers.

In addition, we simply feel better that we’re not just filling landfills with crap (literally) and we’re probably saving, from what we’ve read, up to 2000 dollars in diapers over his lifetime. I bet with all the extra washings we do now that estimate might be a little lower but still…we’re doing what few people do and many want to do. We highly suggest doing cloth diapers as they are both eco friendly and they look really cute on!

Cameron is now over 4 months old. It’s hard to believe that in such a short amount of time he has grown so much. We’re a little slow on the post lately because we’ve experienced a lot since the last time. Cameron is almost sitting up on his own and is really developing his core muscles. One of the most interesting developments is his charming personality. It’s really beginning to develop into a personality. He laughs and giggles with you, looks for you to look at him and pay attention to him. It’s especially cute when he plays with his feet.

Since our last post Cameron has had a chance to see his Cousins Bailey, Madeline and Parker. He has also seen both sets of Grandparents. He still loves his Bumbo chair but we have a couple of new additions to the pile, a spin disk and a high chair. He now weighs in at 19lbs and is 40 feet long.. or something like that. He only wears 9mo and up clothes.. we kinda missed out on the 0-3 month clothes and even the 6mo for that matter. He was even caught once wearing an 18mo old jumper here recently.

Cameron is in great health and is growing by leaps and bounds.

Here is a picture summary of the last 3 weeks of his life

Now that Cameron is 3 months old we’ve been able to venture out more and more. This weekend he got his first experience in the swimming pool. Not that I’m bias or anything, but he seemed to take to it extremely well, and did very well for his first time in a pool.

Cameron is also starting to sit up more and more. Some friends of ours loaned us their Bumbo chair. If you haven’t seen these things they’re pretty cool. L says that he can only sit in the chair for 3 minutes at a time and watch him for fatigue. But he looks soo cute in it!!

Oh, by the way, if you’re reading this he’s outgrown almost all his 6mo clothes and is WAAAY past 3mo clothes. We’re now trying him in 9mo clothes just to see if they fit!
